ACAD LT 2002 slow save over wireless NW

I have Win 2K Pro on a laptop, WinXP Pro on a desktop. Using ACAD LT 2002.

It has worked fine with a Linksys network hub.

Now with a Belkin Pre-N wireless hub I have a problem.

Plain file transfer is fast and reliable.

When I open a drawing on the desktop from the drive on the laptop and go to
save it, the progress bar for saving goes fine, but then the drawing sits
for several minutes before it's ready to use again. Sometimes it gives me an
error message that it could not save the drawing.

Other programs don't seem to have this lag in saving.

Anybody else had this happen, or know of the cure?

It seems a bit odd to me, the reception it shows is always about 97%. The
actual file transfers are fast. But it seems like after the file transfer is
done (or the save) that something else hangs it up.

I may check with different locations and distances to see how it works.

  3. Hmmm... I'm not so sure it's just your wireless router that's the problem.
I've seen it quite slow across a normal network. Try:

    - Disable virus protection (just for testing) on both client and server.
    Much faster?

    - Type APPLOAD in acad and unload WHOHAS.ARX. Cant remember for sure if it
gets loaded in 2002 or not. If it is loaded, an extra .DWL file gets
created when a drawing file is opened or saved.

    - Open the same DWG file on a completely different network share (doesn't
have to be a server). Is it still as slow, or only slow saving to one
    server?

    - If 2004/2005 has been installed on same box, right-click on a DWG file in
Windows Explorer, and disable "Digital Signatures".

Also, keep in mind that AutoCAD first writes to drawing.ac$, renames
    drawing.dwg to drawing.bak, then renames drawing.ac$ to drawing.dwg. Its
not as simple as saving a text file

Test with Microsoft Word and Excel files across the network. They tend to
have a pretty complex save process too.
