I am looking at purchasing a new 11x17 min. color laser printer and wanted
to get your feedback on a couple of models. I am currently looking at the:
    HP color LaserJet 5500N
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/e...51-236268-15077-236268-83875-85197-85198.html
This printer only prints 11x17 a tabloid size would be nice then half size
prints could be easily printer for 24x36 drawings

    Xerox Phaser 7300
    http://www.office.xerox.com/perl-bin/product.pl?product=7300&page=modl

This machine does print tabloid size. I am however a bit leery of going
away from the HP brand with AutoCAD.

The machine would primarily be used as an office printer printing everything
from letters to pictures to drawings and the new color capability would
allow printing of renderings as well.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Darek,

We have been using a Laserjet 5500 dtn for a few months and I can definitely
tell you that HP has done this right.
We had an HP 8500 (I think that was the model number) which was a lot more
expensive, slower and had plenty of problems. We switched to the 5500dtn
and we haven't had any problems so far. This printer is used in a small
office with about 15 people and we can queue prints for 11x17 and letter
size at the same time without any problems (we ordered the additional tray).
I truly recommend this printer, it is the best I have seen so far!

  3. Darek,

We have a HP 5500 and it can print Arch B (12x18) sheets. You can't load
ARCH B into the drawer trays but it can be fed into the manual feed. When
we need to print Arch B we send the files and then stack 50 sheets on the
    manual tray. Works great.
