Does any of you have experience of using SharpDevelop for .net programming? Pros and cons? -- Best Regards, Jimmy Bergmark CAD and Database Developer Manager at www.pharmadule-emtunga.com Take a look at JTB FlexReport (FLEXlm report tool) - www.jtbworld.com/jtbflexreport SmartPurger (Purges automatically) - www.jtbworld.com/?/smartpurger.htm or download some freeware at www.jtbworld.com More on AutoCAD 2005; www.jtbworld.com/autocad2005.htm
Does any of you have experience of using SharpDevelop for .net programming? - Its FREE - the developers LISTEN and add content/functions based upon user feedback - no gaurantee that it'll remain free or supported - but MS could kill Visual Studio for something else, too. - missing some of the cool toolls that come with advanced versions of Visual Studio - some free COM controls for AutoCAD bomb the SharpDevelop IDE but not VS All in all, it depends on your preference. I use both - VS at the office and SD at home. I have even successfully flip-flopped projects between the two. Once I gleaned SD's concept of COMBINES, I liked their approach better because I work on mostly large projects. I steer people to SD all the time especially if the office won't spring for VS or they are looking for something at home. -- Mike ___________________________ Mike Tuersley CADalyst's CAD Clinic Rand IMAGINiT Technologies ___________________________ the trick is to realize that there is no spoon...
Visual Studio 2005 Express is a series of new development tools said to be released under $100 that are now in beta and should be evaluated as they should -- one may presume -- lead to a smoother path to professional development... http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/ -- <%= Clinton Gallagher, "Twice the Results -- Half the Cost" Architectural & e-Business Consulting -- Software Development NET URL http://www.metromilwaukee.com/clintongallagher/
Very cool - thanks I hadn't seen this yet. 'Course I'll stilll stick with SD unless the express stuff is free =) -- Mike ___________________________ Mike Tuersley CADalyst's CAD Clinic Rand IMAGINiT Technologies ___________________________ the trick is to realize that there is no spoon...
The Express applications are free while in beta but the rumor mill says -- not official yet -- that retail price -- if any -- will be less than $100. Apparently, SQL Server 2005 Express is intended to replace MSDE which has always been free and supports the presumption that the Express edition will also remain free. Personally, I think Microsoft has too many development tools going on right now. Its not that there is not a need for tools but they are all somewhat different and do not interoperate with one another which is the real 'holy grail' I have been waiting for.
That was the nice thiing about the DOS days, all I need was an editor like norton commander's internal one or blackbeard or pfe and life was good =) Today there are so many but none seem to do everything I want/need ~ if they do, there is too much in them and it makes them useless. One of these days..... -- Mike ___________________________ Mike Tuersley CADalyst's CAD Clinic Rand IMAGINiT Technologies ___________________________ the trick is to realize that there is no spoon...
